Irmin HENKEL (1921 – 1977)
BIOGRAPHY
Irmin Henkel was born in Renburg, near Hanover, Germany. From 1939 – 1946, he studied medicine, during and after service in the German army.
He was, mostly, a self-taught artist, who achieved prominence as a portraitist in South Africa and was favoured, under the National Party regime, for official government commissions.
