BIOGRAPHY

Daniel Erasmus born in Bloemfontein in 1942 and in 1955, at the age of 15, attended art classes at the Pretoria Art Centre, which was then managed by the late Walter Battiss.

He qualified as a geologist at the University of Stellenbosch and worked for Tsumeb Corporation in Southwest Africa (now Namibia) and the Industrial Development Corporation in Johannesburg, retiring in 1999.

He paints landscapes and flora with oil and acrylic and aims only to use the primary colours – yellow, red and blue – believing that ‘a true artist should be able to mix any colour from the primaries’.
