BIOGRAPHY

Giulio Tambellini is best known for his printmaking in a variety of media exploring themes of space and perception. Originally from Johannesburg, he has lived in Cape Town for some time. Tambellini has produced drawings, large-scale etchings and limited edition books.

Tambellini’s work is often erotic and explores sexuality. Rooted in the physicality of his materials and the emotional resonances they evoke, his work blurs the boundaries between different environments and prompts re-evaluation of the relationship between the self and the environment, spatial awareness and the psychological implications of space, and the complexities of human experience within the physical world.

He has collaborated with other artists, such as Kim Lieberman and Marlaine Tosoni, further enriching the dialogue surrounding his work.

In addition to his exhibitions, Tambellini’s works have been acquired by significant museum collections, including the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane and the Unisa Art Gallery in Pretoria.
